Ruby A. Lightle

Ruby Lightle, 82, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Jerry Ross near Humansville. She was born in Pittsburg, Missouri, the 10th child of Charles E. and Dona Cecil Quick. Ruby married Theodore Lightle on April 3, 1957, and he preceded her in death January 5, 1990. She worked as a waitress in Bolivar before her marriage and worked for a brief time at the garment factory in Stockton, but she was primarily a mother, homemaker, and farm wife to and for her family. She was a member of the Moonshiners Social Club and she loved to go dancing with her siblings and their spouses. Ruby loved nature, fishing, bird watching, flowers, mushroom hunting, collecting rocks, and working crossword puzzles. She was very comfortable in the woods collecting herbs and flowers which she learned from following in her fathers' footsteps. She had an abundant joy for living and had a strong will to live. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Theodore, brothers and sister-in-laws Henry and Chloe Quick; Lindsey and Inez Quick; Homer and Eleanor Quick, Lester and Toni Quick; sisters and brother-in-laws Julia and Bill Floyd; Pearl and Pete Root; Mabel and Nick Bastion; Mary Cline and brother-in-law J.W. Welch. Ruby is survived by daughter Teresa Ross and husband Jerry of Humansville; Cheryl Jones of Belton, Missouri; son Ted Lightle of Weaubleau, Missouri; grandchildren Tina Powell and husband Shannon; Robert Jones; Justin Ross; James Ross and wife Jennifer; Amanda Ross; Jessica Hutchinson and husband Tony; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister Opal Welch of Weaubleau. She is also survived by 2 brothers-in-law Tom Cates of Lees Summit, Missouri and Melvin Owens of Independence, Missouri; 2 sisters-in-law Carmen Lightle of York, Pennsylvania and Jean Fahnestock of Harrisonville, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Tuesday, April 10th at Murray Funeral Home, Humansville, officiated by Bro. Curtis Howard. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3 PM.
