OBITUARY NELLIE LORENE 'BAYS ROBERTS Nellie Lorene Roberts age 82 of Bolivar, passed away at 12:20 PM Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Maranatha Village in Springfield, MO after a lingering illness. She was born on July 22, 1925 at Cliquot, in Polk County, Missouri the eighth of ten children of Jesse Meloy Bays and Carrie Addill Dorman who preceded her in death. Nellie was saved and baptized as a young girl at the Bismont Missionary Baptist Church where her dad was the preacher. She was married to Melby Jones and they had one son Joe Dale. He preceded her in death. Nellie was widowed at the age of 20 when her husband Floyd Watkins died. They had one daughter, Shirley Ann. Later, Nellie married Jess D. Roberts on December 18, 1950. To this union two children were born, Linda Florence and Ricky Lee. Jess also preceded her in death on September 23, 1988. Surviving is two sons, Ricky Lee Roberts and his wife Melody of Bolivar, MO; Joe Dale Jones & Cheryl of Kearney, MO; two daughters, Shirley Patterson and her husband Larry of Lockwood, MO; and Linda Florence Roberts of Henderson, NV; a step-son Jesse Roberts and wife Barbara of Bolivar, MO; and one brother, Earshal Bays and his wife Carolyn of Bolivar, MO. Two sisters-in-law, Rosie Bays of Halfway, MO and Bonnie Bays of Deep Water, MO. Her 8 Grandchildren, Kelly Chapman and husband Phillip, Dr. Kevin Jones and wife Christina, Bobby Mincks, Mike Mincks and wife Angela, Chuck Mincks and wife Mary Jo, Angela Lorene Shimonek and husband Mark, Patrick Roberts, Steven Brooks, and a granddaughter-in-law Susan Mincks. Her 8 Step-Grandchildren, Trudy Buchanan and husband Tom, Angela Willard and husband Matt, Stephanie Padilla and O. B., Sandy Korytar, Loretta Hobbs, Yvonne Pearson, Scott Roberts and wife Chris and Marion Kasparie. 11 Great Grandchildren, Kenneth Mincks and wife Kim, Dylan Mincks, Miranda Hall, Missy Mincks, Collin Shaw Mincks, Zoie Mincks, Kyle and Isaac Marti, Gabby Shimonek, Zach and Halie Chapman. 6 Step-Great Grandchildren, Savanah Patterson, Shannon Jones, Sarah & Jacob Buchanan, Aaron Padilla, Brandon Willard and one baby due in September. 3 Great Great Grandchildren, Logan Mincks, Earl Chase Hall, Daylan Alexander Jackson. 3 Step Great Great Grandchildren. Nellie was also preceded in death by Four brothers, Charley Bays, Clarence Bays, Glen Bays and Richard Bays. Four sisters, Florence Bauer, Effie Frazer, Anna Hamm, and an infant Shirley Ann. Also a son-in-law, Earl Mincks Sr., grandson Earl Mincks Jr., step grandson, Steven Patterson and great granddaughter, Shauna Lorene Mincks. Visitation will be held today(Wednesday)from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Butler Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, at 10:30 AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with the Chaplain Robert Smiley officiating. Musical selections will be "Peace In The Valley" by Red Foley, "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" by Alison Krauss, "In The Garden" by Jim Reeves, and "Beulah Land". Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
