Leo Glen Simpson

Leo Glen Simpson (September 20, 1928 to January 6, 2008) Leo Glen Simpson, age 79 of Bolivar, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on September 20, 1928 in Polk, Missouri to his parents, Walter Simpson and Stella (Ahart) Simpson. He served in the Korean War for the United States Army as a Cannoneer in the artillery division. He retired in 1989 from Brogdon Tool & Die in Blue Springs, Missouri. He then moved to his lake house on Lake Pomme de Terre where he enjoyed fishing and hunting as long as his health was good. Leo was a member of the Pomme de Terre Southern Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Missouri. Leo was a very loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy (Bucker) Simpson, one son; Rick Leo Simpson and his wife Bonnie of Lees Summit, Missouri, two daughters; Pamela Alexander and husband Jim of Tunas, Missouri, and Pattie Darby and husband Randy of Hermitage, Missouri. Seven grandchildren; Jason Darby of Preston, Missouri, Julie Arick of Memphis, Tennessee, Daniel Alexander of Springfield, Missouri, Angela Potter of Bolivar, Missouri, Sara Alexander of Springfield, Missouri, Heather Simpson of Lees Summit, Missouri, and Phil Simpson of Lees Summit, Missouri, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Brothers Romey Simpson and wife Marilyn of California, Bobby Simpson and wife Wathena of Polk, Missouri. Sisters Edna Jackson of Republic, Missouri, Dora Miller and husband Wayne of Bolivar, Missouri, Betty Campbell of Stockton, Missouri. Sister in laws Maxine Simpson of Stockton, Missouri, Mayme Simpson of Bolivar, Missouri, Flossie Simpson of Idaho, and Modessa Simpson of Oklahoma, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Walter and Stella Simpson, brothers Ed Simpson, Paul Simpson, and Clifford Simpson of California, brother Alva Simpson of Idaho, brothers Marion Simpson and James Simpson of Polk, Missouri, brother Junior Simpson of Stockton, Missouri, and brother Delbert Simpson of Oklahoma. Sisters Jewell Barnes, Ellen Hunter, Dorothy Bolenbaugh, and Ethel Simpson. Services were held on January 11, 2008 at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri at 2:00pm with Brother George Colbert officiating. Pallbearers were Harlan Richey, Leroy Simpson, Norman Simpson, Larry Jackson, Robert Jackson, and David Hale. Burial services were held at Payne Cemetery north of Polk, Missouri.
