Lendol D. Mashburn

Lendol Dean Mashburn was born June 19, 1943 at Louisburg, MO. On December 4, 2008 at about 1 :OOAM he peacefully crossed over to be ever at home with the Lord. At the time of his death he was 65 years old. Lendol's passing came after much suffering from a lengthy illness. Lendol was the fourth child of Ernest and Freada (Austin) Mashburn and grew up on their farm near Goodson, MO. He spent all but three years of his life living in Polk County, MO. He was saved October 8, 1961 at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church where he was shortly thereafter baptized and remained a faithful member until his passing. The church ordained him as deacon in January 1973. Those who knew him best saw in him a tender love and deep respect for his Lord and his church; and loved and respected him for it. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Linda Howard and to this union was born two sons, Lavern and Lewane Mashburn. Lendol and Linda started caring for mentally and physically challenged children in their home at Louisburg but after a fire destroyed their home they built Mashburn Residential Learning Center and moved to Bolivar, MO. For the past nine years his health prevented him from continuing the work with his wife. Lendol was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Ernest Dale and his beloved father and mother-in-law Lowell and Grace Howard. Lendol loved life and all who knew him will miss his quick wit and optimistic manner. Lendol's last day on this side of eternity was filled with visits from a great number of those who knew and loved him, and whom he dearly loved. His last thoughts were of how blessed a life the Lord had given him and hopeful wishes for his dearest friends and family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda of the home, His sons Lavern and wife Christina; Lewane and his wife Dawnya and eight beloved grandchildren all of Bolivar, his sister Marcelline and her husband Ivan Maddux of Richland and his brother Verval Mashburn of Richland, MO. Besides his closest family he leaves behind a host of friends and family who mourn his passing. He will be greatly missed! Funeral services will at 11:00 AM Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Mike McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Goodson Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Murray Funeral Home, Bolivar. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Crawford, Delbert Simpson, John Wilson, Bill Ingram, Daral Vincent, Ed Gorden, Howard Maddux and Donnie Lightfoot.
