James D. Sellers

James JD David Sellers, 69, Humansville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 29, 2010, with his entire family present at St. John s Hospital in Springfield. JD was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Sulphur Springs, Ark., the son of Marvin and Ada Elliott Sellers. He was the sixth child out of 11 children. JD served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked as a truck driver many years and after graduating auction school moved to Florida and opened the largest in-door auction house in North Florida. After selling the business, he returned to Humansville to the farm he had bought many years earlier. He then worked for Hunt Midwest until his retirement in 2002. JD loved his farm and his many animals, especially his little Yorkie sidekicks, Shorty, Big Wok, Lil Wok, Toby and Andy. They followed him everywhere as he tinkered on the farm. He loved his wife of 23 years, Kathy, and they were the best of friends and enjoyed watching their three daughters, Daleen, Kathy Ann and Jayleen grow up and even have families of their own. He loved his family so very much and never missed a family bar-b-q or get-together. He always made sure and had a care package of leftovers sent home with him and would say And I m not sharing with granny! Well, maybe a little. JD never knew a stranger and was a good friend to everyone. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved his sons-in-law, Tony and Ronnie, as if they were his very own sons and enjoyed visiting with them, telling stories and showing them how to fix stuff with duct tape and tye wire. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend Kathy; his daughters and sons-in-law, Daleen and Ronald Bays of Stockton, Kathy Ann and Tony Cushman of Flemington and Jayleen Sellers and Travis Lewing of Humansville; his grandchildren whom he loved and were so proud of, Darren Micohle Bridges, Jacob Cushman, Dannielle Bridges, Tyler Cushman, Devyn and Joshua Vance, Lindsey Cushman, Tiffany Taylor, Joshua Bays and his little buddy, Dyllan DJ James Richard Bays; his sisters, Billie Boyd and Rita Sellers; brothers Gary and Lonnie Sellers; his mother-in-law, Lillian Johndrow Hunt; and his many extended Sellers and Johndrow family members. A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Back To The Basics Christian Foundation Christian School in Humansville, located at its new location on Mo. 123, under the direction of Murray Funeral Home, Humansville.
