CURTIS DALE MITCHELL Mr. Curtis Dale Mitchell, age 86 of Bolivar, passed away at 11:42 AM Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Mt. Vernon Veterans Home after a lingering illness. Mr. Mitchell was born on July 1, 1921 in Aldrich, MO the son of Albert Ray Mitchell and Opal Acuff Mitchell. He lived in Polk County his entire life except when he was in the service. He was a graduate of Marion C. Early High School in 1939 and was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. On January 31, 1942 he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Lane. Dale took great pride in his family, his cattle and his farm. He was loved and respected by anyone who knew him. Dale was very active in the Wishart United Methodist Church until the time of its closing. He then attended the Aldrich United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his wife, Basil and Rachael Mitchell. Surviving is his wife Betty Jean of the home, one daughter, Elaine Huff and her husband Dale of Bolivar; one sister, Jean Degraffenreid and her husband Ernie of Bolivar; and a brother, Warren Mitchell and his wife Mary of Bolivar, MO. Also two grandchildren, Karen Long and her husband Ronn of Aldrich, MO; and Craig Huff and wife Susan of Bolivar, MO; also 5 great grandsons, Dustin Dickerson, Kyle & Wyatt Long, Brody and Garrett Huff. 1 great granddaughter, Ashley Huff, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007at 1:30 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Hendrickson and Rev. Bill Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Aldrich under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Casketbearers will be Craig Huff, Ronn Long, Dustin Dickerson, Kyle Long, Brody Huff, Wyatt Long, Ashley Huff and Garrett Huff.
