Alice Leora Butler

Mrs. Alice Leora McGuire Butler, age 87 of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away in her home on Saturday, August 4, 2012. She was born in Dade County on January 19, 1925 to Orville B. and Bertha Lollar McGuire. She was united in marriage to Bob Butler on January 21, 1949 in Bolivar, Missouri. To this union two children were born, Brent and Jana. Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bolivar. She was a 1943 graduate of Stockton High School and graduated from Draughons Business College. She worked at Ozark Production Credit Association in Bolivar. Alice delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of Silo Ridge Ladies Auxilliary. Alice enjoyed bridge and golf and loved spending time with her friends who were a very important part of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, Bobs parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mary Lou Butler, two brother-in-laws, Dean Gillen and Scotty Tella. She is survived by her son, Brent Butler of Bolivar, a daughter, Jana Vieth and her husband John of Springfield, Missouri, two granddaughters, Rachelle Laux and her husband Paul of Arlington, Texas, Sarah Gorman and her husband Nick of Springfield, Missouri, great grandchildren, Michael Allison, Camden Laux and Anthony Gorman who she loved very much. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Gillen, Lois Tella, and two brothers, Harold McGuire and his wife Marquetta of Gadsden, Alabama, Larry McGuire and his wife Judy of Greenfield, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Ray Leininger officiating. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross” sung by Brad Wommack. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar. Pallbearers will be Mark Gillen, Donald Gillen, David Tella, Douglas Tella, Dallas McGuire and R. Stephen Butler.
