Tammie Lynn Pennington

Tammie Pennington, 56, passed away on November 13, 2023, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was the wife of Ricky Pennington. They shared 11 years of marriage together. Tammie was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 14, 1967 to Jerry and Pearlyne Kersey. She graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1985. While in high school, she was a member of the drum line, accompanied the chorale and annual school musical. Tammie attended SBU receiving an associate degree in Business studying music. After attending SBU, Bolivar became her home. Tammie’s job experiences included foodservice management, private piano lessons, and church secretary. Her last job was as bookkeeper for DCBC. She was an accomplished musician. Music was her life, whether playing her flute or accompanying many SBU students whose friendships she continued to cherish after they graduated. Tammie loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a caring mother and loving grandma who loved to do things with her 5 grandchildren. There was always: coloring, playing games, working puzzles, reading books, and just snuggling. She will be remembered for her baking; she loved to make rolls and bread, and she loved sharing these with her friends. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Bolivar. She served in the music ministry of the church using her talents as choir director and playing keyboards. She also adjudicated choral, vocal soloists, and instrumental students at the National Fine Arts Festival. She is survived by spouse Ricky Pennington; parents Jerry and Pearlyne Kersey; brothers Jeff (Belinda) Kersey, Mike (Bridget) Kersey; children Matthew (Crystal) Kelley, Casey Kelley (Cody) Mountain, Michael Kelley; grandchildren Cecilia Mountain, Letty Kelley, Carlie Mountain, Cyrus Mountain, Landen Kelley, and many other extended family members. Funeral services for Tammie will be held at the Bolivar First Assembly of God Church, Friday, November 17, 2023, starting at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will take place Thursday evening, November 16, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Center of the Ozarks. Services are under the care and direction of Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
