Steve was born on September 15, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to Ellis and Lena Farmer Ross. As a young man Steve went to work for the Norfolk and Southern railroad company as a carman. He worked with dedication in his job until he was able to retire. Steve was widely known by the things he loved. One thing Steve was famous for was his cooking and the meat he smoked. There were never enough seats at Steve’s table, but there was always an abundance of food. Whether with a rifle, a bow, or fishing rod, Steve could be found hunting or fishing in any season. He was most at home when he was outdoors. His love of the open air also translated into a love of motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons. Steve also enjoyed collecting old cars and parts, and had tried to worked on several over his many years. Steve also loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Joe, who passed away several years ago. What Steve loved most was his family, and his wife Judy first and foremost. He taught his family to have a high personal standard. He was a rock that pulled anyone around him upward. Steve displayed wisdom and vision, and was a generous soul with his time, seeming to always have the right words and action when needed. Steve was also very spontaneous. In a final act of selflessness, Steve gave the gift of sight by donating his eyes. He could only truly be described as extraordinary. Those who knew Steve were blessed, and continue to be blessed as his memory lives on. Live to ride, ride to live. A celebration of life will be held for Steven Ross from 2-4 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Butler Funeral Home in Humansville, MO. Steve believed that your family never stopped growing as long as you kept giving. In that spirit, the Ross family would like to give Steve one last ride and they would like for you to come along. In lieu of flowers, they ask that you would consider donating toward the restoration effort of Steve’s passion project, a 1940 Ford Sedan. While donations are not necessary, a plaque will be made to commemorate those who join in Steve’s dream.
