Sidney "Sid" Bowers

April 3, 1941 - February 27, 2022

Sidney "Sid" Bowers, 80 of Halfway, Missouri, passed away on Sunday evening, February 27, 2022 at his residence in Halfway. Sid was born in Brunswick, MO to William Franklin Bowers and Roberta Frances Neff Bowers on April 3, 1941. He was raised in Springfield MO. He was a proud Parkview Viking and loved playing football with his gridiron buddies. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the reserves for 8 years. Sid attended Drury College and then Southwest Missouri State University graduating with a degree in Sociology and History. Sid didn't serve in Vietnam because by that time he had married and begun what was to be an illustrious career in federal law enforcement with the US Customs and the fledgling Drug Enforcement Administration. He also married the love of his life, the woman he would spend the next 57 years with, Marcia Anne Bosley. After graduation, he and his bride moved for several years, from St. Louis to Chicago and off to Montreal, Canada. Then back to Marcia's hometown of Webster Groves, just outside of St. Louis where they raised their three sons. Matthew, Peter and Daniel. Sid lived 37 of his best years on his farm in Halfway MO. He loved being on the tractor or behind his chainsaw and walking the woods. "Sid" leaves behind a loving wife of 57 years, Marcia Anne Bosley; and three devoted boys and their families, Matthew Bosley Bowers and his children Jack Sidney Bowers and Lily Shain Bowers, Peter William Bowers and his wife Pam Bingham Bowers and Daniel Bowers, his wife Rosy Bowers and their daughter Natalie Bowers. The family will be having a private memorial service. Sid attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bolivar MO. The family has received enormous support from the church and asks that in lieu of any flowers or memorials, to please support those involved in palliative care, hospice and end of life care. Marcia appreciates so deeply the prayers and support from her fellow parishioners at Sacred Heart.
