Zella G. Vaughn

Zella Geneva Vaughn was born August 14, 1917 to Ed and Opal Swicegood Richter at Weaubleau, Missouri. She went home April 28, 2007 at St. John s Hospital in Springfield. Grade school years were spent at Beatem School in rural Weaubleau and a few years in high school at Weaubleau. In February, 1935 she married Ross Vaughn, becoming a wife and mother to their one and only child, a son, Donnie Sherwood Vaughn, born October 28, 1935. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and housewife. She also worked as a bookkeeper for R. J. Hurley Lumber Co. and T. H. Rogers Lumber Co, all in the same building on the corner in Humansville. Ross was also the manager for the same companies. They retired together in May, 1978. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ross. She leaves to miss her, her son and his wife, Donnie and Marsha Vaughn, Weaubleau; 3 grandchildren, Marla Snook and husband, Aaron, Steve Vaughn and wife, Crystal, and Philip Vaughn of Willard; 6 great-grandchildren, Kalee, Ryan, David, Courtney, Christian and Carsyn; 2 step-greatgrandsons, Jarrod and Jay; 1 brother, Elzie Richter and wife, Icel Lee, Weaubleau; several nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends and neighbors. She was a wonderful fish fryer, a great chicken fryer and an immaculate housekeeper until her death. She could eat 3 times her weight in homemade ice cream every chance she got. In life and even now in death, she has taken care of her family in many ways. She is now resting with Ross, catching up on things and waiting for the rest of her family to make the circle complete again. Earth s loss, heaven s gain; rest in peace your journey is over. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 1, 2007 in Humansville Cemetery, J. Pat Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Pallbearers are Brad Johnson, David Garver, Ryan Edgar, Shannon Rains, Paul Rains and Jimmy Smith. Her great-grandchildren are honorary pallbearers.
