Roberta Grace Neal

Roberta Grace (Wagy) Neal, of Halfway, died peacefully at home January 7, 2013. She was born on September 29, 1920 to Everett and Grace Wagy in Wichita, Kansas. She grew up on Fairview Ave. in Wichita across the street from the Fairview Christian Church. This church played a large and important roll in her life. Her parents were active members there, she attended Sunday School there, was baptized there, she married her husband Myron there in 1941, and her husband was ordained there which launched not only his ministry but also her life as a pastor's wife. She learned to play the piano at an early age. One of the neighbors was so appreciative of her ability that they gave her a baby grand piano! Music played a major role throughout her life. As an adult she also played both organ and pipe organ. She has played piano and organ for many different churches. As a young woman she attended the University of Wichita and later finished her degree at age 57 at William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri. She had a degree in either accounting, religious studies and music. A very appropriate degree for someone who was precise and measured. Even music is numerical. She has worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri, for the department of agriculture extension office in Fulton, Missouri, and for William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri. After her husband, Myron passed away in 1992 she devoted time to volunteering at the Kimberling City library. She and her friend enjoyed swing dance night at the Kimberling City VFW and she took art lessons prior to moving to Scandia, Kansas in 2004 to live with her son John. She is survived by her sons Michael A. Neal and his wife Cynthia of Halfway, Missouri and John S. Neal of Scandia, Kansas; grandchildren, Michael Neal, Christy-Ann Archuleta and her husband James, Cynthis Nelson and her husband Anthony, Matthew Neal and his wife Sherry, Christopher Neal, Katie Neal, and Joseph Lara; great-grandchildren Clara-Ann and Alieza, Emilia and Raul, Alleyna and Hunter. She and Myron undoubtedly had a full quiver. She is proceeded in death by her husband Myron E. Neal. Also welcoming her to her heavenly home are her parents, sister Helen, and numerous in-laws and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 12 PM Saturday, January 19 at 1964 S. Ash, Buffalo, MO. Inurnment will follow at 2 PM at Philibert Cemetery, Kimberling City, MO.
