R.J. Serls

R. J. Serls, Jr. age 73 of Bolivar, Missouri departed this life on Saturday morning March 16, 2013 at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar with the love of his family around him. R. J. was born in Van, Missouri to Ralph and Lina (Harris) Serls on December 23, 1939. He served in the United States Marines after graduating from Bolivar High School. After a brief time working and living in Kansas City, he then moved back to Bolivar. R. J. worked for Foremost Dairies and most recently for Medley Appraisal. R.J. enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. R. J. loved the outdoors and his favorite activities included hunting, fishing and golf. He was a member of the Bolivar Golf Club. He and his running buddies enjoyed several hunting and fishing trips throughout North America as well as NASCAR trips to multiple states. On July 14, 1967 R.J. and Judy were united in marriage at the First Christian Church in Bolivar. To this union was born two daughters; Beth and Amy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lina, his brother; Charlie Serls, and a brother in law; Gene Taylor. R.J. is survived by his wife; Judy, daughters; Beth Francka and her husband Tim of Bolivar and their children Samantha and Tabitha, Amy Thompson and her husband Brian of Bolivar and their children Alyson and Jaxon all of Bolivar, three sisters; Neta Jenkins of Bolivar, Connie Good of Pleasant Hill, Johnnie Bays of Bolivar and his sister in law; Dr. Cindy Taylor of Clarksville, Tennessee; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Duke Jones officiating under the care and direction of Butler Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Aldrich, Missouri.
