Paul Franklin Underwood

Paul Franklin Underwood, 67, of Fair Play went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday evening, December 31, 2012 at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. He was born in Dunnegan, Missouri the son of Frederick and Flora Joye Underwood. He was a 1963 graduate of Fair Play High School. On April 16, 1966 he was united in marriage to Toni Durham and of this union four children were born; Cynthia, Matthew, Toni Rae and Michael Paul. Paul was an employee of Solo Cup for 41 years. He spent countless hours in that factory working and perhaps playing a few hands of pitch in the breakroom. From his many years at Solo he gained many strong friendships and he dearly loved his Solo family. Paul was also a hobby farmer. He spent many hours along with his blood, sweat, and tears on the farm which was his passion. He found much peace and happiness at his "home place" where he was born and raised. Paul's other hobbies included spending time with his children, playing with and teasing his grandchildren, going on road trips with Kay, spending days feeding and farming with sister Carolyn and brother-in law Ed followed by eating and visiting at Hannahs General Store. He also enjoyed watching the Fair Play boys high school basketball team and watching his grandsons at Bolivar Football Friday nights. Paul was a faithful Christian who had been attending the Osceola Assembly Church for the past year. He was a man who strongly believed in honoring the Sabbath day. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Toni; brother Norman; sister-in-law Darlene Underwood and brother-in-law William Durham. He is survived by his children Cynthia and John Devereux of Bolivar, Matthew Underwood and his wife Susan of Humansville, Toni Rae Stewart and her husband Dennis of Collins, Michael Underwood and his fiancee Amber Wilding of Fair Play; grandchildren Kyle and Kelly Winfiel, Christa and Maggie Johnston, Logan Underwood, Kyle, Mariah, Danni Rae, Dawson and Raeden Stewart; brothers Clifford Underwood and his wife Gloria of St. Louis, Missouri and Junior Underwood of Deer Park, Texas; sisters Carolyn Keller and her husband Ed of Nixa, Missouri and Catherine Underwood of Independence, Missouri; brother-in-laws Billy Durham and his wife Sharon of Blue Springs, Missouri, Leonard Durham and his wife Crystal of Tennessee and sister-in-law Geraldine Underwood of Fair Play; dear friend and companion Kay Roland, her daughter Bobbi Jo and her grandsons Christopher and Rodney; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Paul was an amazing man, Dad, Papa, brother and friend who will be dearly missed and who was greatly loved by many. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Murray Funeral Home, Bolivar, officiated by Pastor Matt Underwood, with burial to follow at Barren Creek Cemetery.
