Marie Cecilia Bright

Marie Cecilia (Sukovaty)Bright (February 8, 1921 - April 18, 2015) Marie Bright, 94, of Bolivar passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015. She was one of 9 children born in Tobias, Nebraska to Frank and Cecilia Rut. Marie was a graduate of the Tobias High School Class of 1939. She married Ludvik S. Sukovaty on October 6, 1943 at the St. Joseph Church in Tobias and they were blessed with 5 children. The family moved from Lincoln, Nebraska to Bolivar in 1958. Her husband Ludvik passed away in 1961. Marie married Elmer (Al) Bright on August 6th,1985. She was a 4-H leader with the Woodlawn 4-H Club for many years. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was known in local circles as the "kolache" queen. She liked to do handwork crocheting afgans and embroidering tea towels for her children and grandchildren. She was deft at solving word search puzzles and enjoyed reading which kept her mind active. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Ludvik Sukovaty and Al Bright; daughter Cecilia; son-in-laws Max Vest and Dean Kittinger; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by sons Stephen Sukovaty and his wife Rona of Fair Play, Jerry Sukovaty and his wife Sandy of Bolivar; daughters Margaret Vest of Bolivar and Barbara Kittinger of Palmdale, California; 17 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Marie Bright will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bolivar with Father Patrick Wissman as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with Robert Gibson, John Vest, Matthew Sukovaty, Weston Kittinger, Jordan Sukovaty and Duane Gibson as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Vest, Clifford Durham, Calvin Durham, Brett Gibson, Jonathan Kittinger, John Samek, Steven Day, C.J. Shuler and Brett Walter. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, April 22and beginning at 6:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:30.
