Kurt Sloan

Kurt Knowlten Sloan, 58 of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on Monday morning, March 10, 2025, at his residence in Bolivar. Kurt was born in Rolla, MO, on May 12, 1966. He was preceded in death by his father Leroy on October 23, 2007, and his mother Dorothy on November 25, 2016. Kurt was in the class of 1984 at Dixon High School. In the spring of 1985 Kurt and Lana Beam began dating. The following summer, Kurt began attending Gospel Tabernacle and gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized in the summer of 1985. Kurt and Lana were married on September 27, 1986. Together, they built a loving family with two children, Lydia and Derek. Their 38 years of marriage stand as a legacy of love and companionship. While in high school, Kurt worked alongside his uncle, Glenn Clark, at a small engine repair shop in Dixon, MO. In 1987 he opened Kurt’s Small Engine Repair in Crocker, MO and later relocated it to Bolivar, MO and continued this for 38 years. In addition to this, he worked for many years on Fort Leonard Wood Army Base as a plumber and maintenance worker for various contractors. Kurt enjoyed hanging out with friends in his shop, playing pool, listening to music with his daughter and watching the Dallas Cowboys with his son. Kurt’s hospitality was legendary-he loved feeding his guests and making sure they felt right at home. Lemon pie was his favorite treat! Kurt was also a regular at Bass Pro, Home Depot and Lowe's. Kurt loved his little sidekick fur-buddy Noodle! However, Kurt's family time was where he found his greatest happiness! Kurt’s bright smile, infectious sense of humor, and crazy personality will be deeply missed. Kurt had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was talented and could easily repair anything. Kurt is survived by his wife, Lana Sloan; his two children, Lydia (Chris) Regier and Derek (Sarah) Sloan; five grandsons: Elias, Gavin, & Maverick Regier and Asher & Nixon Sloan, and one sister, Kimberly (Randy) Doyle, two nephews Hayden and Parker Doyle and one niece Ivy Doyle; along with many wonderful relatives and friends. Services for Kurt will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar with a visitation taking place from 5:15 PM to 7:00 PM.
