OBITUARY KAREN ANN PHILLIPS Karen Ann Phillips age 54 of Bolivar, died at 1:15 PM Friday, November 3, 2006 at her home south of Bolivar. She was born, April 3, 1952 to Victor and Doris Lamkins of Kansas City, MO, she graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1970. She worked as a paramedic for Leavenworth County, Kansas EMS, and as a certified nursing assistant for many years before graduating from Idaho State University School of Nursing. She was House Coordinator for Home Court Advantages' SMILE program (Students Mastering Independent Living Education), a residential home for troubled adolescents, in Polk County. Pleasant Hope Assembly of God was her home church, she was Director of Women's Ministry of Bolivar AV, a member of the Board of Directors of Exodus Ministry of MO, Inc, and a member of the Prison Fellowship team that ministers via Bible studies on a weekly basis to the inmates at the city jail. Karen considered being married to her best friend, Jesse L. Phillips, Jr. her greatest blessing and gift from God second only to her salvation. Jesse survives her, as does her precious mother, Doris, her four beloved children, Carrie Peter and husband John of Colorado, Lisa Culbertson of Bolivar, Phillip Riley and his wife Mary Beth of Indiana, and Douglas Phillips and his wife Keisha of Joplin; along with the 12 treasured grandchildren God blessed her life with: Michael, Shayla, Christopher, and Alyssa Peter; Randall and Brittni Culbertson; Matthew, Austin and Hannah Grace Riley; and Brittnie, Dylan, and Jesse Phillips. She also leaves 2 cherished brothers and their wives, Keith and Sue Lamkins, of Olathe, KS; and Steven and Denise Lamkins, of Kansas City, MO; one niece and one nephew Heidi and Jamie Lamkins, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved father, Victor, several aunts and uncles, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the Pentecostal Church of God in Bolivar, with Rev. Harold Johnson and Rev. Dean Clemmer officiating. Soloist will be Isabelle Duryee and Organist will be Mildred Stroud, the Pianist will be Wanda Culbertson. Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace" and "When We All Get To Heaven". Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery southwest of Bolivar under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Casketbearers will be, Randall Culbertson, Jack LeMasters, Doug Phillips, David Alexander, Steve Jensen and Don Gooding.
