OBITUARY JOHN THOMAS HOGSHOOTER John Thomas Hogshooter, age 58 of Bolivar, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville, AR, following a long illness. John was born on May 8, 1947 in Claremore, OK the son of Jackson Isaac Hogshooter and Marjorie B. Roberts Hogshooter. John was the 2nd of 4 children. As a young child he lived on a reservation in Oklahoma with his parents, brothers and sisters. After his parents divorced he split his time between Oklahoma and the Bolivar-Fair Play area. John enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1964 and served until his honorable discharge in 1971. After his discharge John worked at many different jobs from pipelining to farming. John always said hed been around the world twice and done everything three times. He also was an avid hunter, fisherman and card player. He was a member of the Aldrich United Methodist Church. Also a member of the Howard S. Keeling, American Legion Post #138 in Bolivar, the AmVets Post 114 and the AmVets Post 114 Honor Guard, and the Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marj Hogshooter; father & step-mother, Jack & Delia Hogshooter; brothers, Bob and Paul (Pip) and sister, Dayna Wolf. John is survived by his companion, Elizabeth Harris and his family; Wilma and Jim Jones of Pleasant Hope; Paula and Chuck Neill of Bolivar; Debbie Duryee and Kevin Calway of Bolivar; Wendy and Cheyenne Heymer of Bolivar; Johns Children: John, Jackson and Stacy of the state of Tennessee. John was also poppie to Riley Roberts and Quincey Garrett of Bolivar; Justin, Jamison and Jaxson Jones of Pleasant Hope; Alisha Bouling of Pleasant Hope; Logan and Sybil Duryee of Bolivar; Sierra and Troy Calway of Bolivar and Zoey, Mya and Cody Heymer of Bolivar. Other survivors include his aunt Mary Matthews, and uncles Louie and Sonny Hogshooter of Eucha, OK; and many cousins and friends in Jay and Eucha, OK and Bolivar. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 1:30 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James O. Friend and Rev. James Ireland officiating. Music will be hymns in the Cherokee Language of Amazing Grace At the Cross Sweet Hour Of Prayer. Casketbearers will be: Randy Mosier, Jeff Knox, Chuck Davis, Joe Mackey, Claudy Sanders, James Pruitt. Honorary Casketbearers will be: Tom Nutter, Jack Knox, Beeb Herbert, Bob Cheney. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home.
