James Denzyl Redd

Mr. James Denzyl Redd, age 87 of Halfway, MO; died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. He was born December 14, 1919 at Halfway, the son of James Edwin Redd and Minnie Ann Peterson Redd. He married Lorene Roderick on November 28, 1954. Denzyl was inducted into the U. S. Army in November of 1941. He served with the 4th General Hospital in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He served throughout World War II until his discharge on October 19, 1945. He was a farmer and carpenter most of his life. During the drought years of the 1950's he worked at General Motors in Kansas City in the automotive division and later in aircraft constructing Saber Jets. He is survived by his wife Emma Lorene; of the home, one daughter, Marilyn Dunseth and her husband Dale of Halfway; two grandchildren, Sara Dunseth and Craig Dunseth and a sister Verian Shadwick of Halfway, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wilbur Redd of Halfway; and a baby brother, who died during the flu epidemic of 1918. Funeral services will held on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Spear and Bro. DeWayne Burdette officiating. Lendell Voris will be leading the congregation in the singing of "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace". Pat Voris will be the pianist. Also Craig Dunseth will play a piano solo of "Ashokan Farewell". Burial will be in the Reed Cemetery south of Halfway under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Military Honors will be conducted by the AMVETS Post # 114 of Flemington, MO. Casketbearers will be, Ben Gorden, Robert Redd, Ed Redd, Lyle Redd, Jerry Shadwick, and Dean Voris. Honorary Casketbearers will be Larry Caffey, Kenny Legan, Herbert Redd, Hobart Redd, Tom R. Redd, Junior Roweton, and Morris Westfall. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Butler Chapel.
