FLORETTA PIERCE Mrs. Floretta Pierce age 79 of Bolivar died at 10:05 PM Friday at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar after a short illness. She was born on June 24, 1928 in Polk County near Fair Play the daughter of Roy Essley Combs and Mertie Jane Davis Combs. Flo was saved at the age of 14 and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar. She was united in marriage to Lewis Junior Pierce on November 9, 1945. They lived for seven years in the early part of their marriage in California, moving to the Kansas City are in 1953 where they lived for 30 years before returning to Bolivar. Flo loved to cook. While in Kansas City, she had a lot of Sunday dinners and singing at her house. She loved to have people at her house and they knew they were always welcome. She liked to travel, and loved music, flowers and playing the piano. She was very family oriented. Her daughter Debra and her were best friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Ernest Combs and Wilbert Combs, and a sister Gladys Combs died in infancy. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Debra Lynn and Larry Stanek of Bolivar; two granddaughters, Cherie Stanek and Kera Stanek both of Bolivar; two great grandchildren, Zachary Stanek and Sera Stanek both of Bolivar; two sisters, Marie Bridges of Independence, MO; and Anna Collins of Bolivar; also a brother Herschel Combs of Republic, MO. A sister-in-law Udah Fay Combs of Bolivar, several nieces, nephews and a host of many friends. Flo loved going to church and spending time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bolivar with Bro. Michael Calhoun and Bro. Ron Erven officiating. Music was by the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Choir singing "Beulah Land", "What A Day" solo by Debra Stanek, and "Amazing Grace" by Debra Stanek, Cherie Stanek, and Kera Stanek. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Casketbearers were Clifford Combs, Larry Combs, Bill Rathbun, Mike Combs, Pat Foster, Billie Dee Lightfoot, Derrell Ashlock and Zachary Stanek.
