Dorothy Helen Bailey

Dorothy Helen Bailey, 78, of Humansville, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at her residence. She was born in Mayville, Wisconsin, one of seven children born to John and Helen Beyer Markstahler. Dorothy married Lonnie Bailey on July 31, 1954, and they would have soon celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Lonnie's career was in the U.S. military and they lived in many places throughout the continental U.S. as they raised their 3 sons. Dorothy particularly enjoyed the 3 years spent living in England and the 4 years they lived in Alaska where outdoor activities were readily available and enjoyable. Dorothy also enjoyed oil painting, making crafts, shopping and bargain hunting. Her special loves were her children and grandchildren to which she devoted much of her time and energy. She was a kind person with never a cross word for anyone. She worked as a procurement specialist for the U. S. Government before retiring in 1994. In 1996 she and Lonnie moved back to Humansville from Belton, Missouri, built their home and began their "official" retirement. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Johnny, Arthur, and Harold Markstahler. She is survived by her husband Lonnie of the home, sons Scott Bailey and wife Becky of Harrisonville, Missouri; Jerry Bailey and wife Lola of Rome, Italy; Robert Bailey and wife Shelly of Humansville; grandchildren Scott Bailey Jr. and wife Kali; Ryan Bailey and wife Randa; Logan Bailey; Dusty Smith; and the imminent, expected arrival of another grandchild; great-grandchildren Kamryn, Hunter, Kendall, and Zoie Bailey; Alexia Smith; sisters Charlotte Schultz and husband Greg of Madison, Wisconsin; Margaret Kalscheur and husband Mark of Waunakee, Wisconsin and Betty Ann Glover of Madison, Wisconsin. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Monday, July 16, 2012, at Murray Funeral Home, Humansville, officiated by Rev. Janice Beadleston. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given in Dorothy's memory to the S.W. Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimers Association; 1630 W. Elfindale, Springfield, MO 65807.
