David Mac Rice

David Mac Rice, age 86, of Bolivar, MO., passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 12:55am at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield after a short illness. He was born June 27, 1919 in Aldrich, MO. to his parents Orville Cowan & Velma Gladys McDonald Rice. He attended and graduated from Aldrich High School in 1936. He opened Rice Cash Grocery Store in Aldrich in 1938. On August 13, 1941 he married Betty Cacy. He also drove a school bus for the Fair Play, MO. School District from 1954-1970. In 1976, after selling the Grocery Store, he went to work for Town and County Lumber Yard where he worked for 25 years before retirement at the age of 82. His hobby was working and he loved doing so. He is survived by his Wife of 64 years; Betty Rice of the home, three Sons; Gary Rice, Gene Rice and his wife Linda, Rex Rice and his wife Cindy, and a former Daughter-In-Law; Judy Rice all of Bolivar, MO. Two Brothers; James Rice of Aldrich, MO., and Wayne Rice and wife Nadine of Bolivar, MO. Five Grandchildren; Lisa Medley and husband Bryon of Niangua, MO., Michael Rice of Springfield, MO., Gelin Douglas and husband K. Patrick of Bolivar, MO., Amy Greer and husband Jimmy of Gentry, AR., Lori Henry and husband Matt of Bolivar, MO. Seven Great Grandchildren; Grace Elizabeth Medley, Josie Douglas, Jeremy and Andrew Simpson, Brooke Henry, Hayden and Haylee Greer. One Niece Kenna Presley and husband Ray of Bolivar, MO., and Great Nephews and Nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a Sister; Ella Mae who passed away at the age of two. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. with Rev. Harold Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar. Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace" and "Precious Memories". Casketbearers will be Mike Rice, Bryon Medley, Patrick Douglas, Matt Henry, Jimmy Greer and Jody Presley. Visitation will be from 7-8pm Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Butler Funeral Home where there will be a Masonic Lodge Service at 6:30pm provided by the Bolivar Masonic Lodge No. 195 A.F. & A.M.
