David Andrew Grace June 21, 1974 July 9, 2015 Celebration of Life: Sunday, July 26, 2:00pm at First Christian Church, Bolivar. David Andrew Grace, 41, of Bolivar succumbed to the effects of ALS or Lou Gehrig s disease, on July 9, 2015. David was born June 21, 1974 to Sherry Morrel and Warren Grace. He was preceded in death by his foster father, Marvin Lenz. He is survived by his foster mother, Norma Lenz, and his siblings; William Grace, Erin Sanchez, George Grace and Ben Grace. David was a 1993 graduate of Bolivar High School and will be remembered as a BHS Liberator football player, elected co-captain his senior year. His enthusiasm for the team was never-ending. David was passionate about his role helping individuals struggling with substance abuse at Freedom through Christ in Camdenton. He also worked as a millwright until he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig s disease, at age 36. David was an avid reader. He was well known for his love of bacon, his endless humor and wit, and his boundless generosity; generosity in kindness, laughter and encouragement. He was deeply revered by his many friends, young and old. He was elected as Resident Council President at Parkview Healthcare Center. David encountered many obstacles in his life. Any one of those obstacle could have left him bitter and angry. However, he overcame them, he lived in faith and celebrated each and every day of his life. David could talk to anyone, but more importantly, he listened. You could always be yourself and he always wanted to know more about you. Your intention in visiting him may have been to lift his spirits, but afterward, you were the one who had been blessed, and often entertained. He loved you exactly the way you were and made you better at the same time. He taught you to laugh at yourself and not take anything for granted. He didn t talk about death, because he focused on every second of life that he had. Keep smiling.
