Charlene Wilson

It is with great sadness that the family of Charlene Rose Puryer Wilson announce her passing on April 21, 2019, in Bolivar, MO at the age of 77. She will be forever missed by her daughter Jennie Wilson, nieces Leona Coffee, Esther Miller, Melissa Ware, Theresa New, nephew Ed Jackson, sister-in-law Bonnie Oberlechner, her church family, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Esther Puryer, her sister Ruby Jackson, her brother Richard Puryer, and her husbands Charles Wilson and Robert Burns. Charlene was a graduate of Raytown South High School. She maintained a state of Missouri Hairdressing and Manicuring License and was a 50-year member in the Order of the Eastern Star, East Gate Chapter 367. She was a member of the Humansville United Methodist Church and an active member of the Missouri Council of the Blind. She retired in 1999 from the Missouri Office on Aging where she served as a Respite Coordinator and Art Director for the Bolivar Adult Day Care. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and an avid supporter of Veterans rights. Charlene was passionate about cooking, gardening, and ceramics. Her kindness and generosity provided baked goods at every opportunity to her church family, vegetables to her friends and neighbors as well as ceramic gifts to all whom she found deserving. She was not afraid to tackle any task presented to her from crafts to minor construction projects. Known for her strong will, tenacity, and sense of humor she taught her daughter, her nieces and nephew to be self-sufficient and to help others when able while keeping a happy heart. Her love for those around her encompassed not only family and friends but pets as well. She was known for caring for all who came to visit, be they human or animal. No one ever left her house hungry. Charlene was the rock that kept the family together and for that, we will forever be grateful. If you were one of those lucky few she told "I love you," you knew she meant it from the bottom of her heart.
