Berniece L. Follin

Berniece Louise Follin, often called Bea, Mom Bea or Grandma Bea, daughter of Ray Stephen and Margaret Ann (McBride) Burrell, was born August 16, 1923 at Flemington. She departed this life May 20, 2009 at her home in Humansville surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 4 days. Bea was baptized at an early age and became a member of Humansville First Baptist Church September 15, 1935. She was united in marriage to Thomas Jefferson Follin, Jr., also known as T. J., on August 11, 1940 at Osceola. Five children were born to this union. Her husband, son, Robert Follin, grandson, Thomas Joseph Follin, her parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers, preceded her in death. She is survived by 2 daughters, Christine Vance and husband, Bobby, Springfield, and Susan Downs and husband, Richard, Grain Valley; 2 sons, Kenneth J. Follin, Humansville and Thomas S. Follin and wife, Carla, Humansville; 8 granddaughters and their spouses, Debbie and Mike Scully, Tina and Scott Barnett and Lisa and Duane Richard, all of Grain Valley, Sherri and David Ebert, Oak Grove, Toni and David Harp, Springfield, Lisa and Jason Allison, Marshall, Amy Follin and Jon, Humansville, and Becky and Carsten Schidlack, Kyle, Texas; 2 grandsons, Steven Thomas Follin, of the home and Steven Eugene and Beth Follin, Springfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Laverne Burrell, Springfield; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Merle Moulder, Springfield; 19 great-grandchilden; 2 great-greatgrandsons; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Bea possessed a personality that won her many friends. To really know Bea was to love her. She was loved by many Humansville school children who knew her as Grandma Bea. She was a volunteer foster grandparent from October 1986 through July 2006. Her declining health kept her from going back to school in the fall of 2006. How many children she helped down the right road we will never know. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star from 1947 to 1983 when she returned to Humansville. Bea was very active in her church, school and community and loved by many. Her passing leaves grief in the hearts of all her dear ones to who comes the ray of hope and gladness that she was a Christian. The family wishes to thank Hospice workers, Jodi and Heidi and Helen Ball and Jean Campbell for the love and support given to Bea and to them during this time. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Murray Funeral Home, Humansville with Rev. Dan Good officiating. The eulogy will be by Jodi Burch. Interment will be in Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery, west of Collins. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. PDF Printable Version
