Arlene Dayle Palmer

Arlene Dayle Palmer, 90, was called to her heavenly home on August 28, 2024. Arlene (lovingly known as “Palmer”) was born in Barton County, Missouri, the youngest of seven children to Grant and Olive (Peck) Smith. She graduated from Liberal Missouri Schools in 1951. Arlene was married over 63 years to Jack L. Palmer until his passing in 2015. Together they built their home in Parkville, Missouri where they raised their three children Mike, Cindi, and Pam. In 1990 they moved to Bolivar, Missouri where they retired and enjoyed the remainder of their lives together, filled with family gatherings, church family events, and fishing with Jack. As a wonderful cook and the ultimate host, Arlene adored gatherings of those important to her, whether it was the SBU Physical Therapy student’s bible study, or missionaries passing through, she made one feel welcome, heard, and loved. An avid listener, Arlene was always the person to see the positive light in others. Known for her beautiful cross stich creations and delicious pies, she was admired for her nurturing and caring heart. This was especially evident teaching 3-year-old children, loving to help them learn and grow through the Ladies Day Out program at Parkhill Baptist Church. A Sunday School Teacher was one of many important roles she held throughout her life. Arlene was very strong in her faith, quick to share her heart and prayers with those she loved. A woman so easy to love because of her positive nature and sweet spirit, Arlene is survived by her son Mike Palmer (Beverly), daughters Cindi Allain (Clancy) and Pam Burrell (Jack), grandchildren: Aaron Palmer, Palmer Allain, Emily Allain, Jackson Allain and Wesley Burrell (Whitney). She had the honor of enjoying many great times being GiGi Ma to her great grandchildren, Eva Allain and Hudson Burrell. She’s also fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was greeted in heaven by her husband Jack, her parents, sisters Louella Wagner, Lois Clark, Pauline Zimmer, brothers Harold Smith, Donald Smith and Dean Smith. Services will be held at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. The visitation will be held on Monday, September 2, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM; Funeral held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM with burial at Barton City Cemetery at 12:30PM. In lieu of gifts, Arlene requested contributions to be made to Orchard Crest Baptist Church Building Fund (320 S. Orchard Crest Springfield, MO 65802) or Hive of the Ozarks (hiveoftheozarks.com).
