ALICE LUCILLE HENSLEY Alice Lucille Hensley, age 77 of Bolivar, passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 in Springfield, MO after suffering a stroke in April, 2007. Alice was born October 10, 1929 near Bolivar, being the 10th of 13 children of the late Jack and Emma (Krejci) McCarthy. Alice married Jim W. Hensley, 60 years ago on May 23, 1947 and from this union three children were born. She was saved in a revival meeting at Walnut Ridge (Van) Missionary Baptist Church in Oct. 1949. She joined the church and was baptized following the meeting remaining as a member there until she moved her membership to the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in later years. She enjoyed feeding anyone who came to her house, was an avid horseback rider, quilter and gardener. She was also very artistic; painting, writing poetry, playing the piano and playing the guitar. She was a member for over 40 years of the Mizpah Chapter #230, Order of the Eastern Star. Alice is survived by her husband Jim of the home, two sons, Dale & his wife Anita of Grandview, MO; John and his wife Brenda of Bolivar, MO; one daughter, Glenda Patterson and her husband Roger of Springfield, MO; Ten grandchildren, Doug Hensley and his wife Kara of Kansas City, MO; Paul Hensley and his wife Shekinah of Kansas City, MO; Cheryl Hite of Republic, MO; Wes Sampson of LaJolla, CA; Lonnie Hensley and his wife Ashley of Bolivar, MO; Bryan Hensley and his wife Crystal of Bolivar, MO; Lisa Grant and her husband Jason of Springfield, MO; Homer, Katy and Sarah Hensley of Bolivar, MO; Eight Great Grandchildren, 2 brothers, Richard McCarthy and his wife Mavis of Halfway, MO; Bob McCarthy and his wife Sally of Lompoc, CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of many friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Grant and Bro. Mike Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in the Slagle Cemetery south of Bolivar under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Casketbearers will be Doug Hensley, Paul Hensley, Wes Sampson, Steve Skopec, Charles McCarthy and Larry McCarthy. Honorary Casketbearers are Darrell Woolley, Maurice Brown, Tom Mix, Leon Lierer, Bud Meffert and George Jursch.
