Ruth Smith

Ruth Marie Smith was born to Clearance and Letha Fisher on April 25, 1929 in Polk County, near Goodson, Mo. Ruth’s family moved to Kansas City, Kansas In 1945. She worked for Love and Campbell Sporting Goods for fifteen years. She than worked for Colgate Palmolive Soap plant for twenty-six years, retiring in 1989. She moved to North Kansas City, Mo in 2006. When she could no longer live alone, she spent her last four years in the home of her great-niece, Deana Jenkins, in Fair Play, Mo. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers; Dean, Erbie, Jessie, Ralph, Herbert, and Morris, two sisters; Mary Lou and infant sister, Aleene, one niece; Janice, and husband’s Louis Ammel and Harry Smith. She was also preceded in death by a dear friend, Norris Warren. Ruth is survived by a step-son, Randy Smith and wife Nora, and grand-daughter Sierra, and a step-daughter, Susi Staley and grand-children, Michelle, Bryan, Alexander and Rachel. Ruth is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Betty Pettet and husband, Elvin; Bonnie Crume and husband, Charles; Louise Williams; Helen Stephens; Twila Jones and husband, Danny; Wayne Gladden and wife Jane; Mike Fisher and wife Donna; Donna Stark and husband, Gary, Roberta Fisher; Marlin Fisher and wife; and Cheryl Blakely and husband Bruce. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Ruth was a senior league bowler, where she made many dear friends. She attended the Church of Christ. She enjoyed her fellowship with other residents, through playing cards, bingo, board games, working on group jigsaw puzzles, parties and other social events, the seven years she resided at The Gardens before making here final move to Polk County, Mo, where she began her life eighty-some years ago. Ruth was a special mother, grandmother, and aunt to all who were privileged enough to be her step-children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She will be sadly, and dearly, missed by all of her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Butler Funeral Home, Bolivar, MO. A visitation will be held 1:00 2:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Star Ridge Cemetery near Louisburg, MO.
