Mary Ann Davis

Mary Ann Davis, age 73, of Fair Play, Missouri passed away at 1:09pm, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Citizen's Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri after a short illness. Mary Ann was born on November 5, 1935 in Tolono, Illinois to Fred Christian and Myrtle Fitzsimmons Christian. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She also had special friends that she thought of as her adopted family. She touched many lives over her lifetime. She was a retired restaurant owner in Bolivar as well as Reeds Spring, Missouri. She loved to cook for everyone. She cooked for many of the restaurants in and around Bolivar. She loved to fish and spend time with Jack and her special family at the American Legion Post #138 where she was a Auxiliary member for 19 years. She was also a Charter Member and past officer of the Bolivar Elks Lodge #2828. She was preceded in death by her parents; Fred and Myrtle Christian, a brother; Gene Christian, two brother-in-laws; Roland Arseneau and Walt Birtcher. Mary Ann is survived by a loving companion; Jack Knox of Fair Play, Missouri, five sons; Rick Davis and his wife Tammy of Brighton, Missouri, Dave Davis and his wife Sherry of Dunnegan, Missouri, Chuck Davis of Fair Play, Missouri, Scott Knox of Harrisonville, Missouri, Jeff Knox of Fair Play, Missouri, four grandchildren; Sandy Davis and Jeremy Giffin of Brighton, Missouri, Ethan Davis of Bolivar, Missouri, Lisa and Amanda Davis of Dunnegan, Missouri, two great grandchildren; Brianna and Jesse Giffin, five sisters; Mildred Birtcher of Illinois, Anna Marie Arseneau of California, Betty Christian of Illinois, Rita and Marshall Skinner of Texas, Carol and Jack Hatchel of Kansas, one sister-in-law; Pat Christian, three brothers; Don and LaVerne Christian, Jerry and Dixie Christian, Jim and Carol Christian all of Illinois, a very special friend; Cheryl McCarthy, and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Shady Grove Cemetery south of Fair Play, Missouri with Mr. Fletcher Neal officiating. Memorial services will be following the graveside service at the American Legion Hall #138 in Bolivar, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, Missouri. There will also be a graveside service at 1:00pm, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Crittenden Township in Tolono, Illinois.
